Trauma Therapy for Those Who Have Gotten Out
Hello, My name is Monique M. Schofield, and I am a mental health therapist specializing in trauma, PTSD, abuse in all its forms, and religious and cult-related trauma and abuse. I recently became aware of Petra Bible Church through a client who was seeking biblical mental health care and counseling related to some of the experiences and concerns that your subscribers have discussed. For several months, I have felt that God has been leading me to make myself available to individuals who have been impacted by Petra Bible Church, as well as other cult and cult-like groups in Montana. I believe there is a particular need for people who are trying to reconcile their faith with the spiritual, emotional, and psychological wounds they have experienced within religious environments. I was personally raised in an extremist, cult-like denomination, so I understand, on a very personal level, how deeply these experiences can affect a person's relationship with themselves, with others, and even with God. I have tremendous compassion for those who have been spiritually wounded, manipulated, or harmed by religious leaders or churches that claim to represent God but fail to reflect His character, truth, grace, and love. My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that healing is possible. For those who desire it, I also provide Christian counseling and incorporate faith into the therapeutic process in a way that respects both the client's faith and their individual healing journey. I wanted to reach out simply to introduce myself and make you aware of the work I do, in case you encounter individuals who are looking for professional mental health support as they navigate recovery from religious trauma, spiritual abuse, PTSD, or other forms of abuse. I am available for both in-person and online therapy throughout Montana. My Psychology Today profile can be found by going to Psychology Today, selecting "Find a Therapist," and searching for Monique M. Schofield. My profile includes additional information about my specialties, approach, and services. If you believe it would be helpful, I would be grateful for the opportunity to connect and provide any additional information about my practice that may be useful to those seeking support. I truly believe that God cares deeply about those who have been wounded, and that seeking healing is not a failure of faith. Sometimes, healing begins when someone finally has a safe place to tell the truth about what happened to them. Thank you for the work you are doing to support and advocate for those who are seeking truth, freedom, and healing.
