The deceitful, maniuplative Jared Cox

Jared often tells about a complete surrender in his life to the Lord at age 17. He often exhorts his followers to examine themselves to make sure they are truly saved (especially with those who were saved under someone other than Jared). This has led to many people being resaved and rebaptized under Jared. But he never seems to need to examine himself to see if he is truly saved. He preaches sermons telling his followers of ways they need to change and surrender more to the Lord. Often as he’s preaching this he refers back to the time when he was 17 and surrendered to the Lord. It seems he thinks after this surrender at age 17 he hasn’t needed to change or grow since, unlike his followers. He has shared that his surrender to the Lord at age 17 followed a mental health crisis. I am compassionate about a mental health crisis, and do not want to look down on anyone who experiences that. In the years that I have observed Jared, I see patterns of a narcissistic personality disorder. Jared does not take counsel from anyone. I don’t think that an unchecked position of leadership is a wise or safe thing for anyone, much less someone who exhibits characteristics of a personality disorder. I am familiar with a different situation where a spiritual leader had bipolar disorder and wouldn’t take counsel from others. In the end, he suffered a severe mental health crisis. I have been pondering his situation, and Jared’s as well, wondering if a person’s years of choices/behaviors could lead to a mental health crisis, or if the mental health issues are what leads to the behaviors they exhibit. I can’t help but wonder if Jared’s family or those close to him see these traits and wonder what to do.
