Jared Cox & Petra Wilderness Institute Stole and Deceived Sponsors

I am writing this to get my thoughts out there on Petra Wilderness International which was founded by “Pastor” Jared Cox. In this year of 2026, my business was approached by PWI’s students asking for donations for their annual fundraiser in April. I ended up sponsoring the event at a Peak sponsorship level ($5,000) which promised to include your company logo on the website, magnet on the PWI vehicles, branded t-shirts to be worn by the PWI students and your logo displayed on the screens at the event. The evening of the event I did see my logo displayed on the screens however months have passed and I have not seen my logo on any t-shirt, the website, or advertised on any vehicle or social media. Around that same time I sponsored the event I also registered to go on one of the backpacking trips. I paid my deposit of $875 to secure my spot on the trip and for my airfare. Last minute I was removed from the trip, removed from the trip’s group chat and did not receive a refund after the team went on the trip without me. I am very disappointed in the leadership of this organization being ran like a scam. It is not right how they promise perks in their sponsorship levels and do not deliver. I am considering a civil lawsuit against the organization and would strongly caution others to beware giving to Petra Wilderness International.
