Abuse of Petra Bozeman

Here is a list of things that our family had to deal with at Petra Bible Church.

- My job requires me to work 2 Sundays a month so Jared would tell my wife and myself that he would pray for me to find a job that I would have weekends off so I could go to church. I told him that I like my job and I do not want that kind of prayer. You could tell that did not sit well with him.

- I was not going to become a member no matter what but my wife wanted to see what it was about and started the process to understand the process a little better. Once she turned in her testimony Jared called it a note and was not satisfied with the testimony she turned in. this upset my wife but she continued to setting up an interview with Jared which he cancelled and wanted my wife to meet with two younger "members". My wife is not a new Christian and would not meet with them because they are very young Christians. My wife is better versed than those two and found it inappropriate to be passed off to them. This is where I stepped in and told my wife that we will not do separate interviews and we are a married couple and we would do the process together. This is when Jared told my wife that she could do the membership process without me and named women in the church that have done the membership process without their spouse.  This was our first sign seeing that Jared was trying to divide couples.

- my wife tried to volunteer for the overnight camping trips but was continually told that since she was not a member that she was not allowed to go. Same for when some of the ladies would do day hikes example climbing the M they would never tell my wife when they would go and if my wife found out she was told she could not go because it was for members only.

- our son was going through the process of becoming a member when he was brought in for the interview part of the membership. He finally opened up to use that it was more like an interrogation than an interview. He was continually asked to confess that he was molested by his mom and myself which has never happened and he stuck to his guns. our son felt trapped in the interview like Jared wouldn’t let him go until he confessed. After over 3 hours our son told him he was tired and had to work early the next day and Jared finally let him go. our son felt very intimidated by Jared.

- our son also used to work for a "member" and once we left the church that "member" let our son go from his job and told him the reason was because he didn’t go to the church. Illegal as all get up.

- our son also rented an apartment from another "member" and once he quit the church our son was given 30 days to move out because he didn’t go to the church.

- our daughter has played soccer pretty much all her life. She was convinced by two "members" that if she missed church and youth group every Sunday and Wednesday that she was not a Christian if she chose sport over church. She ended up quitting for a year and now going into her senior year of high school that may have hurt her chance of making the team this year.

- our son and daughter were continually told by people mentoring them at the church that my wife and I were not Christians and that they did not have to listen or obey us in our own home.
